Sony Professional Media is excited to announce our SxS-1 32GB* Memory Card, model SBS-32G1, that expands our current offering of tapeless products. This new EX camcorder media offers the same high transfer speeds as its counterpart, the SxS PRO Memory Card, only at a more economical price. With this new media comes a lifetime indicator that works in conjunction with the new XDCAM EX camcorder models that include PMW-EX1R, 350L and 350K. In the case of PMW-EX1/EX3/10MD models a firmware upgrade is required to allow the use of the SxS-1 media and is scheduled for release in Spring 2010. This downloadable upgrade will be available from the Sony Pro Media / Professional Hardware websites. Users that own a PMW-EX30 deck may need to send their deck to a Sony Service Center to complete the required firmware upgrade.

Some key features of the new SxS-1 media include:

• SxS-1 supports all the same record times, speed and functionality as the SxS PRO Memory Card. The only difference is a reduced number of read/write cycles compared to SxS PRO Memory Cards.
  
  
• When recorded at full capacity one time per day, SxS-1 will continue to function for approximately five years**.
  
  

When using the new XDCAM EX camcorder (PMW-EX1R and PMW-350) a user can monitor the remaining card life on the camcorder via its displayed “Lifetime Indicator”.
