The Class 4 is a speed class with a transfer data rate of 4MB per second and is also a specification for standard SD cards.
The AG-HSC1U records 1080i onto SDHC Memory Cards in the new AVCHD Format*
*AVCHD is short for Advanced Video Codec High Definition. It uses an MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 compression system which encodes MPEG-4 files which are much more efficient than MPEG-2 compressed HDV files.
