A crucial component of the XDCAM HD system is Sony Professional Disc media. Sony`s PFD series discs were co-engineered with XDCAM optical
drives to assure maximum compatibility and stability in extreme heat, cold, humidity, shock and
vibration.
High density recording.
Just as CD red-laser technology (700 MB) led the way to DVD (4.7 GB), XDCAM blue-laser recording goes even further, 50 GB on the dual-layer FD50DLA.
To enable this profound improvement, Sony Professional Disc media incorporates a pre-groove with a track pitch of just 0.32 mm -- 1/300 the thickness of a human hair!
Above and beyond.- Affordable, removable, archivable media. Unlike some other tapeless media, Professional Disc media can be used for everything from acquisition to program exchange, editing, play-to-air and archiving.
- Format flexibility. The same media
supports DVCAM™, MPEG IMX®, XDCAM SD, XDCAM HD and XDCAM MPEG HD422 codecs. - Extended recording time, up to 265
minutes (PFD50DLA, XDCAM HD codec, 18 Mbps). - High transfer speed. For faster-than-
real-time speed, the disc supports write transfers up to 86 Mbps using one optical head. - Extended data recording. XDCAM discs can be utilized for storage of data files with the use of selected hardware, like the PDW-1500HD AV/IT recorder. This gives the XDCAM disc format expanded flexibility beyond video content.
